Preparations
There are so many important preparations before a wedding, including the photography. There are a few things you can do to make sure that the photographer gets the most out of the locations and limited time.
1. If the photographer is visiting your home for a formal portrait session, please have a large open space cleared of furniture. There should also be easy access to an electrical outlet.
2. You may want to forward a shot list to the photographer before the wedding day. This is quite helpful when taking group poses. Please keep in mind that time may not allow for all shots from your list. Also, the photographer will have many creative ideas to add.
3. During the group photo session, it might be a good idea to delagate a friend or relative to help organize people, as the photographer will not be familiar with the many people in attendance. A shot list will greatly speed up the time needed for these poses. Group shots are usually done first so the photographer can then concentrate on the Bride and Groom.
4. During the Bride and Groom shoot it would helpful to have one attendant remain to assist with flowers, dress, hair, etc.
5. If you are having reception photos taken it would be a good idea to reserve a seat, or location, for the photographer with a clear view of the head table and podium. Cake cutting photos should be staged, or faked, before the actual slicing.
6. If you are having dance pictures taken please try to schedule the throwing of the bouquet and garter shortly after the first dances. Also, try to start your dance on time. This avoids over extending the photographer's hours.
If you have any further suggestions please let the photographer know before the wedding day.
